Project Approach
How We Helped Them
We-Collab’s role was pivotal in developing and executing the in-person convening, leveraging the relationships and knowledge built during the learning labs. Our approach focused on creating a dynamic, culturally responsive, and community-driven event.
- Convening Programming: We expanded on the key topics covered in the learning labs, organizing breakout sessions, keynote speeches, and coaching circles. Sessions were designed to give participants practical tools they could immediately apply within their organizations.
- Logistics & Design: We-Collab designed everything for the convening, from the SYNC logo, posters, swag items, and signage to the event program and breakout room set-ups. Every detail was crafted to create an engaging and welcoming environment that reflected the convening's values and themes.
- Healing & Self-Care: Recognizing the emotional toll of violence prevention work, we incorporated healing circles and wellness rooms to provide attendees with opportunities for reflection, connection, and personal rejuvenation.
- Cultural Relevance: We ensured that the food, venue, and programming reflected the various cultures and traditions, specifically honoring the rich diversity of local communities in Houston. This included offering dishes representative of key population groups, such as African American and Hispanic cuisines, and centering the event in a community-driven location deeply connected to Houston’s cultural heritage.
